Do you use task cards with your students? Are they getting bored? How about task cards with a twist? After solving math problems on these task cards, students can share the fun facts that are included.<\/p>\n\n\n

The first set contains ten-frame task cards with an apple theme. Students count the number of apples in the ten frame and calculate how many more are needed to make ten. A fun animal fact accompanies each card, such as “an octopus has a beak-like mouth” or “hippos can hold their breath while walking underwater.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can print these cards, laminate them and distribute them to the students. They can use the answer sheet to write down their answers. In order to make these digital (and useful for distance learning), I’ve included a BOOM card<\/strong> version. Have you used BOOM cards yet? They are digital task cards hosted on the BOOM Learning site. The cards are self-correcting. Students tap on the answer and if correct, it gets circled in green. If incorrect, it get crossed out in red and the student can try again.<\/p>\n\n\n

Another deck focuses on addition sentences, using pictures. These cards include fun space facts, such as “it takes 8 minutes for the Sun’s light to reach Earth” or “12 astronauts have walked on the moon.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also have a deck featuring double-digit addition. These cards include fun jungle facts, such as: “black panthers are actually spotted, like all leopards” or “gorillas make a new bed of leaves every night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
